After the September 11, 2001 terror attacks, the number of foreign students attending U.S. colleges and universities dropped off, mostly due to tightened visa restrictions. But the numbers have now rebounded, and foreign students are entering the U.S. education system at record rates.The number of international students at American colleges and universities increased by seven percent last year, to nearly 624,000, according to The Institute of International Education.
Foreign students contributed more than $15 billion to an economy in dire need of their money.
